Get to a stop
If you are still moving, stop the vehicle and park it at the roadside. Get out of it, after getting out, help the passengers to get out as well
Check for injuries
Check if you have any injuries or not. Also, check if the passengers are okay or not. If you are injured, call 102 for an ambulance to seek medical attention. If you are bleeding, wrap a piece of cloth around it and try to stop the bleeding. Do first aid if necessary
Get to a safe place
If you think your vehicle is burning or leaking fluids and it is not safe, get away from it and get to a safe place. The vehicle might explode, so it is better to stay away from it
Check for vehicle damage
Check your vehicle for the damage- how bad it is damaged, are there any leakage, the parts broken or any other kind of damage.
Call for police
If you are uninjured, call 100 for police to report the accident. The police officer will come and document the accident. Ask him where to get a copy of the document. This will help you in getting an insurance claim.
Exchange information
Exchange contact information of the other party. This should include
- Full name and mobile number
- Insurance company and policy number
- Drivers license number and vehicle number
- Model and color of the vehicle
Record the accident, take pictures of the scene
You should record the incident, how it happened, the damage is done, the location of the accident, etc. take photos of the scene from every angle, make sure it shows how damage is captured in it. This will help you with your insurance claim.
Claim insurance
Notify your insurer and claim for your insurance for your vehicle. Tell them the whole accident and give the police report and photos you captured as proof, and you should be good to go.
